We rescue orphaned and injured green monkeys and other small mammals – and either help them return to the wild or provide them with a permanent, safe and species-appropriate home at our sanctuary.
Helping Hands for Wildlife is a non-profit wildlife rehabilitation centre with a clear mission: to rescue, rehabilitate and gently prepare wild animals for a return to the wild. We do this with minimal human interaction and maximum respect for the animals’ natural development.
Our hearts beat especially for primates. Above all, for the curious, sensitive and highly social vervet monkeys, who make up the majority of our residents. But other animals too, such as servals, dogs, pigs and a horse, have found a safe haven here.
Every animal here has its own story. They have all suffered trauma – whether physical or emotional. And they all deserve love, safety and care.
Whether as a volunteer, a donor or a retreat host – you’re helping to preserve habitats and shape the future. Here, the monkeys learn to be free again. Perhaps for you, too, it’s a journey back to something more primal.
Experience the day-to-day life of a reintroduction centre first-hand and become part of a project that gives orphaned and injured wild animals a second chance. As a volunteer, you’ll support our work directly on site and gain an authentic insight into rescue, rehabilitation and reintroduction – amidst the stunning natural beauty of South Africa.
For retreat leaders, we offer an exceptional setting, flexible partnerships and the freedom to tailor your programme to your needs. Our centre is ideal for yoga and mindfulness retreats, personal development seminars and coaching programmes. The combination of active involvement and experiencing nature creates a truly special experience.
Your donation supports our day-to-day work. 100 per cent of all donations goes towards the care, treatment and rehabilitation of the animals, as well as the maintenance and expansion of the centre. From medical care and food to secure enclosures – your help enables protection, healing and new opportunities for orphaned and injured wildlife.
You can sponsor animals that live permanently at our sanctuary. With your monthly contribution, you help to ensure they receive food, care and medical treatment – and give your sponsored animal a safe, species-appropriate home. You’ll receive regular updates and insights into the life of your favourite animal.
When a wild animal is in distress, every minute counts. At Helping Hands for Wildlife, we have a clear, structured rescue plan to ensure that help is provided quickly, safely and professionally. Based in eManzana, Mpumalanga, we operate throughout the province.
If you find an injured or orphaned wild animal, please contact our team before taking any action yourself. This will allow us to properly assess the situation and work together to ensure it receives the support it needs right now.
Our farm is not just a place of refuge – it is a place of change and hope. Elli, who is originally from Germany, has been here since early 2023. In October 2024, she took full charge of the farm and has been running it ever since with passion, experience and tireless dedication.
We believe in teamwork, compassion and the value of every single life. People from all over the world come together here – volunteers, supporters – united by the vision of helping animals in need and giving them a second chance.
Our work goes beyond the care and rehabilitation of animals. It includes raising awareness about wildlife conservation, supporting the local community in dealing with found wildlife, and creating safe habitats for wild animals.
We fight for the animals. For their freedom. And for a better life – every day.
This farm really is a very special place. You can immediately sense just how much heart, time and love Elli puts into this place. Elli is a wonderful young woman who manages to create an environment where you can find peace, enjoy nature and, at the same time, feel part of something genuine and valuable. It’s particularly impressive to see the dedication with which she looks after everything – from the animals and the grounds to the people who come to visit. You can really tell that this farm isn’t just a place, but a labour of love. If you’re looking for a place where you can slow down, recharge your batteries and make a difference, this is the perfect spot. A beautiful place with a wonderful host. I’d come back here time and time again.

Wow. I was at Elli’s farm with a group of six other girls. We were given a warm welcome and I really felt at home. Elli runs the farm with great care and is always there for you. Anyone who wants to do some good and be surrounded by wonderful people should do so with Elli and Helping Hands 4 Wildlife. We were allowed to really get stuck in from day one, which was a brilliant feeling – as if we’d always been part of the team. It was a fantastic feeling to be able to support these amazing people for at least 14 days, to let go of my fears and to grow. I’d go back to Elli’s time and time again. Thank you for these wonderful and unforgettable 14 days.
